Honor and Prudence
The movie,I Dream of Africa is said to be a true story.
It is a good story.
Many families will find it useful to teach honor and prudence to even their five year olds.
It can be used for a group showing to teen-agers( 14 and up) and then discuss these points.
How did the 17 year old boy show his impudence?
How did he not honor his mother?
How was he not prudent in something that contributed to his death.
Can you see how limited experience of a young person makes them think
things will go on well for them forever and therefore they don't have to be prudent.
How long does it seem to you since you were just entering high school?
> Your experience during that time is all telling you nothing much bad is going to happen.
"I can keep on doing things as I like."
But the movie shows a versatile and well developed young man who thought that way
and died as a result.
How would things have been different had he honored his mother?
How would things have been different had he been prudent about keeping the glove on his hand?
How are impudence and prudence connected? How are they connected to over-confidence?

It has a minute of husband and wife which some parents may want to censor.
It's not that I don't think my kids have already seen much more at some friend's house,
but that doesn't mean I can put my blessing on sitting in the living room with my daughters
watching a husband and wife warming up to each other.
